Emotional problems such as stress, depression, anxiety have very negative effects on the immune system. By improving our emotional
health, we can remove a great burden from our immune system, thereby strengthening it. Under emotional strain, the body becomes more
vulnerable to illnesses.
Personally, the most stressful and depressing time of my life was also the time that most of my health problem surfaced. Once, I
realized the problem and made a conscious decision to pull myself off the emotional roller coaster, my health problems reduced significantly.
Scientific research reveals that stress reduces several types of immune respone and killer cells in the body also decrease activity. The immune system is simply weaker in people under emotional distress.
To improve your emotional health and boost your immune system, consider the following:
Do something you enjoy:
Dance, sing, play sports. What ever makes you smile and enjoy life, do it more often.
Join a group:
There are many church groups and civic organizations that would love to have you. If you
are dealing with depression or a drug related emotional issue, consider a support group.

Exercise regularly:
Participate in some form of exercise four days a week. Walking, yoga,

Become part of a healthy relationship:
Studies show that married people tend to have stronger immune systems than unmarried people, just as
happily married people have better immune response than unhappily married people. In almost every
aspect of life, harmonious relationships usually result in better health.
Practice stress reducing habits or techniques:
Prayer, meditation, deep breathing, positive imaging and affirmations. Also, taking a warm bath relaxes
the muscles, improves circulation and slightly warms the brain which according to scientist calms the
