Maintaining A Healthy Weight Can Boost The Immune System

Maintaining a healthy weight is definitely another way to boost the immune system. Being overweight or underweight effects the bodies ability to fight sickness and diseases. When it comes to the immune system, FAT is definitely a dirty word. Fat produces free radicals and depresses the immune system, making it lazy.

Excess fat, breaks down communication between immune system cells and keeps them from responding appropriately to invading viruses, bacteria and cancer cells.

Avoid diets that cause you to lose weight temporarily and gain it back plus a little extra as soon as you stop the diet. Losing and gaining weight quickly has a very negative effect on the immune system.

After losing and gaining weight again and again on the crash diets, I finally realize that the best way to lose and maintain a healthy weight is to make a conscious decision to live a a "healthy lifestyle". Adopting a "healthy lifestyle" involves good eating habits such as reduced portion sizes, lower calorie intake, avoiding foods high in fat and sugar and participating in moderate exercise.

After researching and participating in many weight loss programs, I am most please with Tahiti Trim Plan 40. This program is designed for individuals near or over the age of 40 and is one of the only programs designed to address hormone imbalance as a contributing factor to weight gain.

Moderate exercise is a great way to boost the immune system. In the case of exercise more is not necessarily better. Too much steneous excercise can temporarily depress the immune system.

Participate in moderate exercise such as walking, yoga and strength building exercise programs four times per week. Research shows that people who exercise moderately, live longer and have lower rates of cancer and cardiovascular disease.

In addition, the number of white blood cells increase during moderate exercise. One type of white blood cell, the macrophages becomes more aggresive at gobbling up bacteria, viruses and cancer cells. The natural killer cells in the body become more aggresive and numerous after moderate exercise.
